COMPETITIVE GRANT PROGRAM
The Foundation has one annual funding cycle for competitive grants. The deadline for grant applications is March 31. Applicants will be notified of their grant status generally by May 31. An organization that is offered a grant is no longer required to raise an equal amount of funding from other sources in order to claim its Cinnabar award. However, organizations are encouraged to use this funding and the Cinnabar Foundation name in order to leverage further funding.
The Foundation offers competitive grants in two categories:

- Special Project Grants provide funding for specific programs, projects and campaigns. Schools and university programs may submit only special project grant applications. These awards range from $1,000 to $15,000.
- General Operating Grants are unrestricted funds to help cover the essential expenses of running nonprofit organizations. These grants are offered by invitation only. Grants range between $1,000 to $15,000.
NON-COMPETITIVE GRANT PROGRAM

The board does not solicit or accept applications for these grants:

The board does not solicit or accept applications for these grants:
- Sargent Legacy Grants reward outstanding conservation work over the course of years.
- Tawney Opportunity Grants help organizations meet unpredictable challenges or seize opportunities that, while consistent with the Foundation’s goals, arise outside the Foundation’s regular granting cycle. These grants are intended to provide unanticipated bursts of enabling energy — just as its namesake Phil Tawney did.
