A new chapter begins for the Cinnabar Foundation.
When thinking about the Cinnabar Foundation, one of the first thoughts that springs into my mind is "its enduring nature." Not the kind of enduring that results from being unchanging, but rather that which is born from resiliency. Strong, flexible, timeless. There is a certain human spirit that is drawn to create and nurture structures and ideals that are enduring. Certainly my in-laws, Len and Sandy Sargent, exemplified that spirit. As did their son and my late husband, Rick Hubbard Sargent, and long-time board member and co-founder Phil Tawney. For the past five-years, Steve Thompson's leadership as executive director was instrumental in helping to maintain the Foundation's fiscal resiliency while envisioning new initiatives to ensure "Montana's Conservation Fund" endures and is positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities of the present. It is a testament to his passion and his character that, after deciding to boldly embark on his personal hero's journey to tackle climate change, he willingly stayed on to provide a seamless transition of executive directors at Cinnabar. What will be the hallmarks of Cinnabar's next chapter? Time will tell. But rest assured, all of us at the Cinnabar Foundation could not be more delighted in welcoming Gary J. Wolfe as our new executive director. His background and expertise offer new potentialities to partner with Montanans to preserve and protect their conservation heritage and ensure Cinnabar's legacy will endure into the future. — Judi Stauffer
